Winter “one”derland 1st Birthday invitation

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Ain’t that the truth!

This dancing snowman invitation has all the character and spunk that Olaf from the Frozen movie has! What one year old wouldn’t want to party with him? He also has many coordinating accessories and this pennant banner and table tents are just a few of the many you can choose from.

This invitation is available for purchase over in the shop.

You make me happy, when skies are gray

You’ll never know dear, how much I love you….

Is this not the cutest baby shower invitation you have ever seen!? It is designed to look like a diaper and when you untie the bow you can open it up (like a real diaper!) and you are greeted by an invitation to a baby shower.

The gray chevron and yellow bow can be changed without a custom design fee to any colors.

Stars and Stripes invitation

It’s hard not to get lost in the holiday season quickly approaching. But we can’t forget to honor our Nation’s heroes. Here is an invitation for some high school kiddos who will be honoring those teachers who are Veterans.

Front and Back of Invitation

Front and Back of Invitation

We get quite a few requests for this invitation and we have seen quite the different wording choices asking invited guests to bring a book to add the Baby’s library. Here are some wording examples we have been asked to use:

Just one last request, and we hope it’s not hard,
Please bring baby a book in place of a card.
By signing your book we will remember and share
Your special gift, even when you’re not there.

One small request, that won’t be too hard,
Please bring a book instead of a card.
Whether Cat in the Hat, or Winnie the Pooh
you can sign the book, with a note from you.
Baby Ainsley will be very smart indeed,
if we start early, she will soon learn to read!

It’s opening night for baby Harris.
Come join us in celebrating his young life
by helping to stock his bookshelves.
Let’s fill his shelves with children’s’ books from your favorite author
and come welcome Ashley’s latest addition.
As Ashley’s due date is coming near,
We’re inviting friends and family dear.
To choose a favorite story or fairy tale
That you would like Baby Harris to hear.
Instead of a card, please let Ashley look,
At your special choice of a book,
and then to Baby Harris she will read
With all the love a newborn will need.
So with a personal touch, please choose a book
And in it then your name do put.
It need not cost more than a card
Just pick a favorite, it shouldn’t be hard.
I want to be a bright child
As smart as I can be.
That is why I’m hoping
My mom will read to me.
If you plan to bring a card
Please take another look,
I would like to learn my ABC’s
From your favorite storybook.
Please sign your name
As your personal touch.
Baby Harris thanks you
very, very much.
Or, replace the last paragraph with the following:
Please add your name and a note
So that I’ll know where to start.
Thanking all that celebrated me
From the bottom of my heart.
Although cards are nice
They’re read once or twice
Maybe three or four times at best
A book is a treasure
Forever and Forever
So instead of a card
To be put aside
Please give the little baby
A book with your name inside
It will be read to our little tyke
Before bed each night
And we will thank you
Forever and forever!
A card is nice, its sentiment sweet,
But a book will keep baby on her feet.
For years to come, baby will read
Longing for stories will never be a need.
A shelf full of wisdom for all to give,
For baby to keep as long as she shall live.
Filling the shelf should not be hard,
If you would please sign a book instead of a card.
Although cards are nice,
with their sentiment and prayer,
they’re read once or twice,
then tucked away with care.

A book is a treasure,
with words and pictures that unite,
to read over and over,
night after night.

So instead of a card,
to baby and mother,
please give a book,
with your thoughts in the cover.

Your book will be cherished,
God will watch from above,
when we read we’ll remember,
your kindness and love.

Since the original design was created, I have been asked to modify the original pink design into a variety of different colors and also for twins! We have lilac/purple, chocolate brown, green, and blue.

{This lovely Story Book invitation was inspired by a magazine feature Kelly pulled out of Martha Stewart magazine. The original, hand drawn piece was created by Rifle Paper Company (and is free to download!).}

Just one more hot dog in the pot.

I have a sweet sweet friend who has 4 kiddos. I have no idea how she does it, so I asked her. Her reply, after the 2nd, “it’s just one more hot dog in the pot”. Easy peasy.

I tease her to no end about that. So when we found out we we’re expecting #3 (you couldn’t possibly be as surprised as we were!) and panic set in, I immediately thought of what she said. It helped settle my nerves, that is, until the morning sickness kicked in and unsettled my tummy. Looks like the toilet and I are gonna get real close these next few weeks. But yay for Fall babies!!!

Story Book (Stock The Library) Invitations

When I met with Kelly about this invitation she knew exactly what she had in mind. She had brought in a paper clipping of a Martha Stewart magazine spread showcasing a Story Book themed baby shower. It was gorgeous (could you expect anything less from Martha Stewart!?) I was so excited because Kelly wanted me to design the invites, bookplate stickers, and she also wanted some bookmark favors. I designed the pink version for her and it has since become one of my best-sellers. So much so that we have had to change the colors a few times for other clients.

A Year From Now…

So what’cha waiting for!?

I know I don’t normally post personal stuff on this particular blog. It just seemed that if I could keep paper and familial bliss separate my life would be seem less chaotic and more organized and structured. But quite honestly, my Littles and my Big are the inspiration behind everything that this teeny tiny little stationery company does. And because of that Mad-Passion, this small business I started from my home office between naps and date nights has grown. And boy has it grown! (Some B-I-G things and lots of growth to share with you all soon!)

Last May, I could only imagine what my 2012 would look like in terms of work and family. I attended a workshop in Pensacola, Fla where I finally got to meet a hard-working Mama whom I had admired (and had done some stalking intense research of). Emily Ley is part of a huge movement called Making Things Happen (MTH), a movement I now happen to be a part of. A movement that I believe is the #1 reason I am where I am today. 2012 so far isn’t the story I had written for myself, it’s even BETTER!!!! Makes me giddy thinking about what 2013 has in store for me (though I have an inkling it’s gonna rock my world – another “hot dog in the pot” so to speak *wink*).

And with this growth comes set backs. Some funny, some surprising, and some heart-breaking. But all in all, 2012 has been a whirlwind of a year. I never thought I would work so many hours in a day (or night- after all I am Momma and Wife first!). I am starting to find the perfect imbalance between work and motherhood. YES! I DID SAY PERFECT IMBALANCE! There were times when work demanded more of my time than I had which meant that my precious little Eggs got less. So I hired a full-time helper to help with the house and the kids. And then I breathed a little lighter. And then I hired a regular part-time Design Assistant, and I took the kids to the park more often. This May (insert one growth announcement here!) there will be a New York trip with my husband. And upon my return, I have to prepare (insert another growth announcement here!) the headquarters and then (insert another big growth announcement here!) the chambers.

I am drowning in work,… and gratitude, and faith, and hope, and surrender this year. I am thankful for those 3 lights of mine in the photo below (taken by the fabulously talented Melissa Rodriguez of Melissa Rodriguez Photography) and for every one of my friends that insisted they see me even if it meant lunch and paper store, or talk and mail drop off, or coffee and copies. I am ever so grateful for my clients who believed in me, and invested in me and didn’t quit on me when the workload got overwhelming and proofs took longer than anticipated.

Valentine’s Photos Session by Melissa Rodriguez Photography.

So, thank you. No really. THANK YOU! (and thank you for reading this long post! If you’re still here, you’re in for a big treat!)

Let us know you’d like to be entered into the drawing by posting on our Facebook page at @ThenComesPaper to be entered to win a Custom iPhone case from us. Drawing will be held April 20th, 2012 just in time to receive that case for Mother’s Day! They make great gifts!!!! Some restrictions apply.

And by the way, if you’re a current client of mine, your entries will count twice.

Luxe Diaper Baby Shower Invitation – White with Pink Bow

The possibilities are endless with the color combos for our Luxe Diaper Die Cut Baby Shower Invitations. This diaper was actually the original design I created for my own baby shower (my hostesses allowed me creative freedom to design my own invitations!) so it’s pretty close to my heart. Most certainly a labor of love, pun fully intended.

I still love it as much as the day I presented it to my hostesses for approval. It makes my heart so happy to mail these out and share them with the world.
